Prior to joining JMP Securities, Allan was a managing director for seven years in the healthcare corporate finance group at Wachovia Capital Markets, where he led the healthcare services investment banking effort. Beforehand, Allan served as a managing director in the healthcare corporate and investment banking group at Banc of America Securities. He previously held investment banking positions at Morgan Stanley, NatWest Markets Group and Smith Barney.

Allan holds an MBA degree from the University of Chicago and a dual undergraduate degree in finance and management policy and computer science engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
