Prior to joining JMP, Cornell was a sales trader at Robertson Stephens covering institutional money managers and hedge funds. Cornell previously worked at Salomon Brothers for five years, both as a fixed income salesperson and as a system administrator.

Cornell received a B.S. in electrical engineering from Howard University, where he was a recipient of a Sunburst Foundation scholarship and a board of trustees' scholarship.
